6 Pakistani Brands that Operate Internationally

These past two decades have been very fruitful one for the Pakistani fashion industry, as many designers have made it big and are operating on a global front today. Here are a few of the most popular clothing brand names that originate from Pakistan. 

Maria B 

Maria B is another brand that has made it international and has gained global acclaim. Starting from a small shop with just a few sowing machines in Lahore, the designer’s eponymous brand has expanded to over twenty different locations in Pakistan and offers worldwide shipping! Known for their glamorous silhouettes, traditionally beautiful and regal bridals, trendy stitched lawn suits, gorgeous, unstitched collections, and adorable girls and kids’ fashion wear, Maria B has it all! 

That’s not all, Maria B has had the honor of collaborating with a diverse palette of celebrities, local and international alike! The star-studded lineup includes Sajal Ali, Iqra Aziz, Maya Ali, Aima Baig, Mehwish Hayat, Urwa Hocane, Aiman Khan, Marwa Hocane, as well as internationally acclaimed Turkish actors, Didem Balçin and Gülsim Ali. Khaadi 

This is without question one of the most popular names in the Pakistani fashion industry that have made it international. Launched as a small, Karachiite home business that sold hand-woven kurtas in 1998, Khaadi’s ascent to the top of the fashion scene came in rapid succession after the brand’s inception. Within two years, Khaadi expanded to a multi-score brand, introducing multiple product lines. Today, Khaadi operates in 17 cities locally, and boasts a total of 17 outlets in the US, the UAE, the UK, and Canada. 

Their clothing lines include stitched and unstitched wear for women, stitched wear for children, western wear, and more. They have also expanded into accessory and perfume production and have home styling collections. Today, with a variety of projects and product lines under its belt, including Khaadi Khaas, Khaadi Home. 

Ideas by Gul Ahmed  

Ideas, originally marketed eponymously as Gul Ahmed, finds its origins in the textile giant that was created in the 1900s, under the same name. It was in 2003 that they expanded into the retail sector under the brand name Ideas. It quickly gained nationwide acclaim for its innovative clothing designs and optimum cloth quality, leading to their expansion into the UK and UAE markets. With a legacy in the textile industry like its own, it’s no wonder that maintaining quality and comfort has been a primary concern of theirs.  

Today, the brand boasts a variety of collections ranging from Gul Cotton, Lawn, Premium Lawn, Normal Lawn, Gents Shalwar Kameez, Khaddar, their signature series, and more. Ideas has even expanded to introduce a western wear collection that features some of the coolest street style wear and business casual wear in Pakistan, offering everything in between. Al-Karam 

One of the most well known names in the Pakistani textile industry, Al-Karam is another globally recognized brand. First established in 1986, the brand was quick in its rise to fame and mass appeal, given its high-quality cloth and unorthodox, but very elegant and attractive designs. Today, they operate in the USA, the UK, Portugal, and France. 

When it comes down to it, there are very few names in the Pakistani fashion industry that can compete with Al-Karam, as far as traditional clothing is concerned. Despite this, their biggest selling point is their exceptional fabric quality, which they never compromise on. Typically, Al-Karam launches its summer and lawn collections which include a variety of beautiful stitched and unstitched three-piece suits and a kurti collection. Their signature and patent style is subtle embroidery or minimalistic laces along the hems and sleeves of their clothes. Their clothes are suitable for women of all ages. 


ChenOne 

Another very famous Pakistani clothing brand is ChenOne. This textile giant is one of the largest exporters in the industry. Their first branch was opened in 1997, in Islamabad, where they offered a ocmplete range of footwear, clothing of all kinds for women, men, and children, kitchen accessories, bed linen, and furniture. Today, they export all across the world and are one of the most well known Pakistani brand names. 

Junaid Jamshed  

Established by the iconic, late singer and songwriter under his own name, Junaid Jamshed (Or J.) is a brand that has made its name known across the world. The star decided to join the fashion industry in 2002, when his first outlet was met with an extremely favorable response, leading to a rapid expansion into other cities and eventually, continents. Their stores operate in the UK, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada today, a wider palette of countries than any other clothing brand.  

Their original store sold ready to wear and unstitched clothing for men and women but given the overwhelming response the project received; it was able to expand to launching perfume collections as well as makeup collections under the name of J. (J Dot). Many companies followed their footsteps and introduced such products after they set the trend.
